In terms of operating principles, metal sheet shearing machines rely on the fundamental physics of shear deformation. When a metal sheet is positioned between the blades, the upper blade descends and acts in conjunction with the lower blade to exert a shearing force on the material. This force causes the sheet to undergo plastic deformation at the cutting edges, ultimately leading to fracture and separation.

The shearing process generally comprises three stages: elastic deformation, plastic deformation, and fracture. During the elastic deformation stage, the sheet undergoes reversible deformation; as pressure increases, it enters the plastic deformation stage, resulting in permanent deformation; finally, when the stress exceeds the material's shear strength, the sheet rapidly fractures at the cutting edges.
