Hydraulic Gantry Shear

As a type of heavy-duty metal shearing equipment, the safety standards for gantry shears cover equipment design, operation, and maintenance to ensure the safety of both personnel and the machinery.

Equipment Safety Design. Emergency stop buttons must be installed at critical locations on the gantry shear to ensure the power source can be cut off rapidly in an emergency. Photoelectric protection systems may be implemented to monitor the work area in real-time and prevent personnel from accidentally entering hazardous zones. Based on patented designs, gantry shears can be equipped with protective guards to prevent flying scrap material from causing injury during the shearing process.

Operational Safety Standards. Operators must stay clear of hazardous areas such as the shear blades; modern gantry shear designs support remote control operation to maintain a safe distance. During operation, operators must constantly monitor the system pressure displayed on the control console gauge to ensure it does not exceed the rated value. The equipment must be equipped with overload protection functions.

Safety During Maintenance and Inspection. Regular maintenance is the foundation of safe operation. Critical fasteners-such as those connecting the chassis to the feed hopper, as well as connections for the shear blades and hold-down blocks-must be checked regularly for tightness. Electrical system connections should be inspected for looseness, and cables for signs of wear. Hydraulic systems require regular checks to ensure adequate fluid levels, clean filter elements, and leak-free piping. The equipment and its surrounding area must be kept clean to prevent the ingress of debris.
